My name is Tracey. I am a writer and foodie, and live in Ottawa, Canada. I work in fund development, however my plan is to someday write full-time.
It is an exciting time for foodies in the nation’s capital as Ottawa has a wonderful, thriving food community.
Please read and enjoy, and if you have any questions I can be reached at: thelemonkitchen1@gmail.com

Hi Tracey, I’m the one who posted on Robin Kelsey’s blog about possibly opening a cafe in Killaloe. I’m building a house there with my partner Jake (Robin’s son) and thinking about what to do after we move in. I want to offer a place where members of the community can come together, hang out, appreciate arts and culture, and enjoy local and fairly traded foods and beverages. I’ll have to see how that idea grows over the next couple of years.

Any movement on the cafe??
Hi Tracey,
I read Julie Powell’s blog and your post in the comments section there caught my eye. I just got back from a long weekend in Ottawa last week and loved it. We had dinner at the Sweetwater Aboriginal Bistro and it was awesome. I am not a “game” eater but did just fine and it provided lots of material for my blog! You are lucky to live in such a fun city!
I’m enjoying your posts.
Hi Lisa-
I read your Old Montreal post today, I think your blog is great!
I plan on going to Sweetwater with a friend the end of August. Ottawa is a nice place. I am glad you enjoyed your trip!
Stay in touch.
I love the pic of you and the flowers. It’s beautiful.
Thanks Elaine, it was taken at my first book launch and then a friend in Florida did some work on it with a computer program
My 5 favorite things are: Guacamole, Chocolate covered macaroons, preferably the old ones we used to buy at Andrew’s Bakery in Cobourg(back in the days), tandori chicken curry, coffee (sorry Tracey!) and chocolate turtle cheesecake, I am prejudice, I make it myself. Tracey your blog is great. I spent some time reading it tonight! Hopefully we’ll see you in December!
Hi Tracey – Just wanted to say Hi and welcome you to Betidings. Loved the events you added – I’ve shared the cycle ride to the Ottawa running/biking etc event list, it’s a great addition. Love the fact that some community/charity events are getting listed – hope this gives you another place to get the word out.
If you love food, check out Foodieprints’ calendar on Betidings, follow it to keep updated with food events in the city. Don & Jenn do a great job of tormenting me on Twitter regularly, curse them!
Best wishes
