We finally found our way to Wakefield this weekend. Mutts in tow (I know, how much can you see?), we walked along the river and visited a few of the unique shops.
We couldn’t of course complete this venture without a visit to the famous Wakefield Bakery (or at least the bakery everyone talks about). The place was packed with people, I purchased 2 almond croissants, and 1 strawberry-rhubarb pie at the cost of $15.34.
The croissants were mouth-watering, flaky, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture, everything we expected. Another walk was in order of course to take care of this fatty (but worth every bite) indulgence.
Later, at home after a supper of local farm fare, we took our pieces of pie out to the porch. The pastry was okay, a little heavy, but the fruit was divine, the strength of the rhubarb’s tartness ruled, just the way I like it.
We know another walk is in order.
