There is something to be said for the summer, a back deck or patio, the clink of cutlery you hear during an after dinner Saturday evening stroll in the neighborhood. With everyone trying to find ways to conserve during these difficult economic times, dining in is the new dining out.
Folks are setting tables on their front porches, kicking back on fire escapes and getting to know each other again.
We bought a cheap table at Ikea, drilled a hole in the middle, plunked an umbrella in and have had dinner outdoors almost every night (we also eat breakfast out there on the weekends)
So get out those recipes books, invite a few of the neighbours over and enjoy. Remember-buy local.
