Weekend Fiesta

There is nothing like Saturday night dinner with friends on the patio. This weekend has been one leisurely indulgence after another….

Our friends arrived for dinner Saturday night and we enjoyed a Mexican feast, including the coconut cream cake which turned out to be pleasantly moist with a nice flavour, although a little on the sweet side. I served it with balsamic soaked strawberries which were lovely and Sophie brought really great wines (its the first time I have had anything from Kim Crawford, the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which was a wonderfully crisp, fruity, summer perfect wine). When the mosquitoes became a nuisance we came inside and made tea.

Sunday was a bit of a drag after a night of indulging, but well worth it. The sun is shining today, time to get out there and enjoy it.

Back to the kitchen later to work on recipe 4……

  1. Sounds like a fabulous evening. The Kim Crawford Sauv. Blanc is one of my favorites…it is the closest to a great Chablis that I’ve had without shelling out over $30.

    Awesome blog Mrs. Gainforth.
