Green Mountain Inn Bed and Breakfast

We just spent the weekend in Cape Cod. I chose to stay in Hyannis which was more about nostalgia than anything else. I am so glad that is where we ended up.

Green Mountain Inn Bed and Breakfast is a cozy, little beauty right in the heart of Hyannis.

Inn owners, Mike & Heidi Godin, and Nick Hemingway (from Vermont, hence the name) have put their distinct mark on this place and within this community. Never have I felt so welcome and cared for. These are the kind of people you want to hang out with. Knowledgeable about everything Cape Cod, we relied on this knowledge and not once did it let us down. From where to eat and shop, to the most scenic routes along the Cape these guys know their stuff.

Green Mountain was built in 1853 as a ship captain’s home, this mid-Cape gem has served for years as an Inn. Captain Angell, after 30 years at sea as a steam freighter commander, opened this quaint Bed and Breakfast. Sea Street was then a secluded stretch of road. Marshes covered much of the waterfront at the end of Sea Street between the house and what is now Sea Street Beach. Now it is full of lovely Cape Cod style homes, with beautiful gardens and trees.

The Inn itself is on a beautiful property, with a lovely koi pond, perennial gardens and deck. It truly is a place you can come back to after a day’s sight-seeing and enjoy.

The Inn owners are well-known for their delicious breakfasts and on our first morning there they did not disappoint. Cream cheese and strawberry stuffed French toast served with sausage, bacon, homefries and yes you guessed it, Vermont maple syrup (they did offer Canadian Maple syrup as well that morning- Thanks Salty’s Sugar Shack!).

We had to cut our trip short to come home to a sick pup and the guys couldn’t have a accommodated us more with their concern and understanding, just a few weeks before Mike lost his own beloved Standard Max.

We want to go back, soon. All the good things I remembered about this magical place as a kid were still there, and even better.

Thanks Mike and Nick for a wonderful time!
