I have worked in the non-profit sector for many years, and I have worked with many organizations that utilize the services of the Ottawa Food Bank. It’s a good organization doing good work. They support up to 45,000 people per month and 37% of those are children. This moves me to help support, because I see it not only in my work, but on my street, in my own neighbourhood. Hunger has many faces.
They have an event coming up on October 24th, Capital Dishes-Dine Out for Hunger. Using food to raise money for food makes so much sense. It is also a good reminder to those of us who dine out, how really lucky we are.
This is a brand new fundraising campaign to raise awareness and money to help fight community hunger here in the Ottawa Region.
On Wednesday October 24th eat at some of your favourite local restaurants to support this great campaign! Participating restaurants will donate 10% of their sales to the Ottawa Food Bank.
Find out who is participating here. They are also looking for more restaurants to join them so if you have a connection or you are an owner/manager email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to be part of this great event!
Now my only decision…..where to go…..
